Job Description
We are looking for a positive, dedicated, and hardworking individual to add to our wonderful team here at Eastwood Nursing Center. The Dietary Manager will maintain and manage high standards of food quality, production, sanitation, and safety standards within the Dietary Department. More importantly, the Dietary Manager will maintain and improve the nutritional status of all our wonderful residents at Eastwood. Main Duties Consult with 3rd Party Registered Dietician on a regular basis Orient, train, supervise, and evaluate all new and/or existing employees Prepare staff schedules in the Dietary Department Order food and related supplies Write regular/modified menus and resident diets Calculate recipes and portion costs Record routine diet and menu changes Maintain nourishment records Participate in weekly patient care plans Plan and disseminate educational in-service to all Dietary Department personnel Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local health laws/regulations Ensures that strict hygiene principles are followed in the preparing and serving of food Attends and participates in all infection control and safety meetings Qualifications High school diploma or relevant work experience accepted. Willing to train the right applicant Must be a Certified Dietician Assistant or willing and able to obtain this certification within 30 days from hire date Must complete a pre-approved course in food service supervision within 30 days from hire date Clean and neat appearance Ability to work well with others, have excellent communication skills, and be a good role model for the employees within the department Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and be able to demonstrate a positive attitude on a constant basis especially when dealing with the employees within the Dietary Department Physical/Special Requirements Will have to bend, stoop, lift, and carry up to 25 pounds at times when needed Tastes and smells food to determine quality and palatability Handle and manipulate various supplies/equipment within the department Interviews and is responsible for all hires within the department Must be able to handle major responsibilities associated with planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, communicating, and decision making within the department
