Dietary Aide / Cook Lawson Manor & Rehab - Long-Term Care Facility Make a Difference Every Day—One Meal at a Time! Lawson Manor & Rehab is seeking dependable, compassionate, and team-oriented Dietary Aides and Cooks to join our Dietary Services team. Our staff plays a vital role in providing nutritious, appetizing meals that enhance the health and quality of life of our residents. Position Summary The Dietary Aide/Cook is responsible for assisting with meal preparation, cooking, meal service, dishwashing, sanitation, and maintaining a clean, safe kitchen environment while following physician-ordered therapeutic diets and all applicable food safety regulations. Duties should be performed in accordance with facility policies and federal and Missouri long-term care standards. Essential Responsibilities Prepare and cook meals according to planned menus, standardized recipes, and therapeutic diet orders. Assist with food preparation, portioning, and meal assembly. Serve meals accurately and on schedule. Ensure resident meal trays meet physician-ordered diets. Maintain food temperatures and complete required temperature logs. Prepare nourishments and snacks as assigned. Wash dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment. Clean and sanitize food preparation areas, dining rooms, and storage areas. Follow infection prevention, food safety, and sanitation procedures. Properly store food according to state and federal regulations. Report equipment concerns or safety hazards promptly. Work cooperatively with nursing staff, dietitian, and dietary manager. Treat residents with dignity, respect, and excellent customer service. Participate in in-services and required training. Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred. Previous dietary, food service, restaurant, or long-term care experience preferred, but training is available. Food Handler Permit or ServSafe certification preferred (or willingness to obtain). Ability to read recipes and follow written instructions. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent attendance and reliability. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and remain standing for extended periods. Preferred Skills Knowledge of therapeutic diets. Institutional or healthcare cooking experience. Safe food handling and sanitation practices. Strong time management and organizational skills. Positive attitude and compassion for older adults.
