Dietary Aide- Long term care- PT Afternoon/Evening shift
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dietary Aide to join our long-term care team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in food service and dietary support, with experience working with geriatric patients in assisted living, nursing home, or hospital settings. As a Dietary Aide, you will play a vital role in preparing and serving nutritious meals, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and supporting the overall well-being of residents. Duties Assist in the preparation, portioning, and serving of meals according to dietary requirements and safety standards. Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently while adhering to sanitation and food safety protocols. Support the dietary department by maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of food preparation areas. Handle food with proper hygiene practices, including safe food handling and manual handling techniques. Assist with meal delivery, bussing tables, and cleaning dining areas to ensure a welcoming environment for residents. Follow prescribed dietary guidelines for residents, including special diets such as low sodium or diabetic menus. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriately to maintain workplace safety at all times. Collaborate with nursing staff and dietary team members to meet residents' nutritional needs effectively. Experience Previous experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or related healthcare environments preferred. Food service experience within the food industry or culinary settings is highly valued. Familiarity with food production, meal preparation, and serving techniques in a healthcare or geriatric setting. Knowledge of food safety standards such as JCAHO regulations and sanitation practices. Experience operating kitchen equipment and managing multiple tasks efficiently through strong time management skills. Understanding of dietary requirements specific to elderly populations and ability to adhere to prescribed nutritional plans. Basic math skills for portion control and inventory management; CPR certification is an asset but not mandatory.
