Job Overview Woodbury Wellness Center is seeking dedicated and compassionate Dietary Aides and Cooks to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in food preparation and service, with experience working in assisted living, nursing homes, or hospital settings. This role involves preparing nutritious meals tailored to residents' dietary needs, maintaining strict food safety standards, and supporting the overall well-being of our residents through quality food service. The successful applicant will demonstrate excellent time management, manual handling skills, and a commitment to workplace safety while fostering a positive environment for residents and staff alike. Responsibilities Prepare and/or serve meals in accordance with dietary requirements, ensuring nutritional standards are met for geriatric patients and residents. Assist in food production, including portioning, plating, and presentation of meals to maintain high-quality standards. Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, adhering to sanitation and food safety protocols. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen areas through regular cleaning, bussing, and proper waste disposal practices. Support dietary department operations by handling food handling tasks such as stocking supplies, inventory management, and adhering to food safety regulations. Follow safe lifting practices when handling heavy items or equipment to prevent injuries and promote workplace safety. Collaborate with nursing staff and caregivers to accommodate special dietary needs and restrictions for residents with specific health conditions or preferences. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriately during food preparation and cleaning tasks to ensure health standards are maintained. Assist with meal delivery or serving as needed, providing excellent customer service to residents and staff. Experience Previous experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or the food industry is highly desirable. Demonstrated culinary experience with knowledge of food production, meal preparation, and food handling techniques. Familiarity with dietary requirements specific to geriatric or healthcare populations is preferred. Experience operating kitchen equipment safely within a regulated environment such as a healthcare or food service setting. Knowledge of sanitation practices, workplace safety protocols, and proper manual handling techniques is essential. Ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Basic math skills for portion control, inventory management, and accurate record keeping are required.
