This position offers an energetic environment focused on teamwork, safety, and exceptional service. You will be responsible for preparing and serving meals in accordance with dietary guidelines, maintaining a clean and safe kitchen, and supporting the dietary needs of our residents. Your enthusiasm and attention to detail will contribute to creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere for all who dine with us. Responsibilities Prepare, cook, and serve meals following established recipes and dietary requirements, ensuring nutritional standards are met. Assist with food production tasks such as chopping, portioning, and plating to support efficient meal service. Adhere strictly to food safety protocols, sanitation standards, and proper handling procedures to maintain a safe kitchen environment. Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, mixers, dishwashers, and other culinary tools. Support the dietary department by bussing tables, cleaning food prep areas, and ensuring all surfaces are sanitized regularly. Manage time effectively to ensure meals are prepared and served promptly while respecting residents' schedules. Follow all workplace safety guidelines, including proper manual handling techniques and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Assist in serving meals to residents or guests with courteous customer service skills while respecting individual dietary needs. Maintain accurate records of food temperatures, sanitation logs, and inventory levels as required by health regulations such as JCAHO standards. Experience Previous experience working in nursing homes is highly preferred. Food industry experience including food preparation, cooking, or catering is beneficial. Familiarity with dietary requirements for geriatric patients or those with special nutritional needs is advantageous. Knowledge of food safety practices, sanitation procedures, and safe lifting techniques is essential. Experience operating kitchen equipment and managing food handling responsibilities demonstrates readiness for this role. Strong time management skills combined with excellent customer service abilities are important for success in this position. CPR certification or willingness to obtain it is preferred to ensure safety in emergency situations.
