Job Description
Dietary Aide / Cook El Reno Post Acute Rehabilitation Center We are looking for a dependable and hardworking Dietary Aide / Cook to join our dietary team. We are looking for someone who can assist with daily dietary duties but also has the ability and experience to cook and prepare meals when needed. This is a great position for someone with food service or cooking experience who is comfortable working in different areas of the kitchen. Job Responsibilities Prepare and cook meals according to facility menus, recipes, and production needs. Assist with breakfast, lunch, and dinner preparation as assigned. Prepare food according to resident diet orders, including therapeutic diets, texture-modified diets, and altered fluid consistencies. Follow recipes, portion sizes, and meal service requirements. Prepare and set up resident meal trays according to diet orders and meal tickets. Serve and deliver meals to residents in a timely and courteous manner. Prepare drinks, snacks, desserts, and other food items. Assist with food preparation, including cutting, portioning, mixing, and preparing ingredients. Monitor and document food temperatures as required. Properly label, date, store, and rotate food. Follow proper food handling, sanitation, infection control, and food safety procedures. Wash dishes, utensils, pots, pans, trays, and kitchen equipment. Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, counters, floors, and dining areas. Stock and organize food, supplies, and dietary items. Assist with receiving and putting away food and supply deliveries. Assist the Dietary Manager and other dietary staff as needed. Communicate resident meal concerns, preferences, or changes to the appropriate staff. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen. Perform both cook and dietary aide responsibilities depending on the needs of the department. Qualifications Cooking or food service experience is strongly preferred. Must be comfortable preparing and cooking meals independently when assigned. Nursing home, assisted living, hospital, school, restaurant, or institutional cooking experience is a plus. Must be able to follow menus, recipes, diet orders, and portion requirements. Must understand or be willing to learn therapeutic diets and texture-modified diets. Must be dependable and able to report to work as scheduled. Must be willing to work in different areas of the dietary department as needed. Must work well as part of a team and have good communication skills. Must be able to maintain cleanliness and food safety standards in a fast-paced kitchen. Physical Requirements Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods. Must be able to bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive tasks. Must be able to lift and carry food, supplies, trays, pots, pans, and dietary equipment as required. Must be able to safely push meal carts throughout the facility. Must be able to work around ovens, stoves, hot equipment, cold storage areas, and wet floors. Schedule Full-time and/or part-time opportunities may be available. Dietary shifts include early mornings and evenings. Must be available for scheduled weekends and holidays as needed. What We're Looking For We need someone who is willing to jump in wherever needed. Some days you may be preparing trays, serving residents, washing dishes, or helping with food preparation. Other days you may be responsible for cooking a meal.
