Grandwood Assisted Living is looking to hire cooks and dietary aides to assist our residents. Morning Shift 6am

  • 2pm, Evening Shift 11am
  • 7pm•Hours vary upon position Weekends may be required Benefits after 90 days: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance available 40 Hours PTO after 6 months Full Time Employment

POSITION SUMMARY
The Cook:
  • Follows and prepares planned menus and simple modified diets under the direction of the Dietary Manager.
  • Prepares, cooks, seasons and serves food in an attractive and palatable manner.
  • Receives food orders and equipment/supply orders.
  • Receives tableware following meals to wash and store.
  • Maintains records as requested.
  • Performs other related duties as required or designated.
POSITION RELATIONSHIPS
    Responsible To:

    The Cook reports to the Residence Director.

      Employees Supervised:

      The Cook may supervise workers in the kitchen.

        Interrelationships:

        The Cook works cooperatively with all staff and residents of the Center.

        PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS RESPONSIBILITIES

        1.The Cook is responsible for handling and preparing food in a sanitary manner. He/she plans menus and prepares food that is nutritious, palatable and appetizing in appearance. He/she meets meal schedules, avoids food waste, and properly cares for equipment.

        • The following activities are unique for this position:
        • Plans menus under the direction of the Dietary Consultant.

        Performs dietary or Universal Worker duties as required or designated.

        QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION

        The Cook must have the ability to read, speak, write and follow oral and written directions. High school education preferred. Must be at least 18 years of age.

        EXPERIENCE

        It is expected that the Cook will have had cooking experience, either at home or in a commercial setting. Preference may be given for training in commercial food service and special meal preparation courses.

        JOB KNOWLEDGE

        The Cook must be able to follow a menu to cook a variety of foods in large quantities and be familiar with seasoning required and cooking time involved.

        WORKING ENVIRONMENT

        Kitchen surroundings: some heat involved. Exposure to chemicals and sharp objects. Lifting/pushing/pulling required.
