Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
To promote a safe and clean environment that focuses on nutrition and dietary requirements, hygiene, housekeeping, and miscellaneous duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Ideal candidates will have excellent skills understanding basic concepts with cooking and the tools needed to provide a safe environment and practice sanitation. Ideal candidates will be organized and able to work independently with such duties as housekeeping, sanitation, and kitchen work. Ideal candidates must be able to stay within a set budget and work with outside resources for food inventory, shopping and processing of receipts. Ideal candidates must be willing to follow all policy and procedures set forth by state standards and operating standards as well as working with .
QUALIFICATIONS
High school graduate or equivalent education is preferred. Preference is given to persons with education in quantity cooking and therapeutic diets. Minimum one (1) year food service experience in a health care dietary setting is desired. Have general knowledge of quantity food preparation and portioned serving. Verbal and writing abilities necessary to communicate and work effectively with various levels of staff, residents, family members and the public. Numerical ability necessary to make various computations in keeping work records, and in recipe preparation. Motor coordination and manual dexterity are required to prepare food and operate dietary equipment. Willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks with frequent interruptions. An appreciation of the value of food and dietary equipment and an awareness of the requirement for careful handling and economy of serving. Ability to read, understand, and follow recipe directions, diet orders and work assignments using a computer. Able and willing to work flexible hours, such as during an emergency situation. Must be patient and tolerant toward staff, residents, and family members.
General Responsibilities:
1. Creation of food menus, food preparation, housekeeping, personal care, laundry and other activities of daily living. 2. Weekly large shopping trips using client SNAP benefits responsibly and submitting receipts for verification. 3. Meeting deadlines and completing all necessary paperwork. This includes quarterly reports for food and housekeeping expenses, monthly reports, fire drill records, house receipts, daily tempeture log book, etc. 4. Maintain required documentation for SNAP accounts and register clients for the SNAP program in a timely manner. Meeting with the SNAP office to submit applications and close SNAP accounts in a timely manner at the conclusion of services for each client.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Regularly:
walks, stands, or stoops; lifts or otherwise moves objects weighing up to 10 pounds; drives a motor vehicle for transportation.
Occasionally:
lifts or otherwise moves objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Accommodation may be made for some of these physical demands for otherwise qualified individuals who require and request such accommodation.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is typically performed in an environmentally controlled building. Work exposes incumbents to potentially hostile situations and may expose them to contagious or infectious diseases.
