Job Description

Job Summary The Diet Assistant transcribes patient diet orders using department software to ensure accurate nourishment delivery and collaborates with clinical nutrition staff to meet patients' specialized dietary needs.
Responsibilities include:
Entering nourishment specifications, allergies, dislikes, and dietary information into patient records. Verifying and adjusting substitution lists and calculating fluid restrictions and meal patterns. Processing and verifying patient tray tickets to match dietary prescriptions. Receiving updates via EPIC, fax, ADT, phone, and diet lists for admissions, transfers, and diet changes. Updating patient menus and tray tickets as needed, printing reports, and tracking meal payments. Initiating emergency procedures when necessary and assisting staff to ensure patient feeding during resource limitations. Participating in training, onboarding, and occasional travel for educational purposes. This role is typically performed in an office setting, requiring compliance with policies and procedures. The position involves working hours from 10:30 am to 7 pm, with rotating weekends and holidays, and is based in Danville or South Wilkes-Barre. Qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED. The role demands attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to coordinate with clinical teams to ensure dietary needs are met efficiently.
