Responsibilities Prepare and serve meals according to dietary guidelines, menus, and safety standards, ensuring adherence to specific dietary requirements for residents. Assist with food production, including chopping, mixing, plating, and portioning meals efficiently and accurately. Operate kitchen equipment safely and effectively, including ovens, mixers, refrigerators, and dishwashers. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen areas by following proper cleaning protocols, sanitation procedures, and JCAHO (Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations) standards. Support the dietary department by bussing tables, cleaning food prep areas, and managing food handling with proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). Handle manual lifting of heavy items such as bulk ingredients or supplies using safe lifting practices to prevent injury. Work collaboratively with nursing staff and other team members to accommodate special diets and ensure timely meal delivery for residents. Experience Previous experience in assisted living facilities or nursing homes is highly preferred. Food production or food service experience within the healthcare or hospitality industry is advantageous. Familiarity with culinary techniques, food safety regulations, sanitation standards, and kitchen equipment operation is essential. Experience working with geriatric patients or in a dietary department setting enhances your ability to meet residents' nutritional needs. Strong time management skills to prioritize tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of basic math for portioning and inventory management. CPR certification and understanding of workplace safety protocols are required to ensure a safe working environment.
