Duties Prepare and serve meals in accordance with dietary guidelines, special diets, and residents' preferences Assist with food production, including cooking, plating, and portioning to ensure consistency and quality Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, dining areas, and food storage spaces following food safety standards Adhere to safe lifting practices when handling heavy items or bulk supplies, ensuring workplace safety at all times Support dietary department operations by bussing tables, cleaning dishes, and managing food handling procedures Work closely with nursing staff to accommodate residents' dietary needs and restrictions while providing excellent customer service Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently while following all health regulations mandated by JCAHO (Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations) Requirements Previous experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or food industry settings is highly preferred Knowledge of food preparation techniques, meal service, and sanitation practices required for healthcare environments Familiarity with dietary requirements for geriatric patients and ability to adhere strictly to prescribed diets Strong time management skills to prioritize tasks efficiently in a busy kitchen setting Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely and handle manual tasks such as heavy lifting with proper technique Basic math skills for portion control, inventory management, and meal planning purposes Excellent customer service skills with a compassionate approach toward working with elderly residents Certification in CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) preferred; training can be provided if necessary Commitment to workplace safety protocols including PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) use and food handling standards Join us in creating a warm, safe environment where nutritious meals foster health and happiness.
