Full Job Description Job Summary:
Responsible for variety of kitchen duties which may include assembling prepared food for trays, delivery of trays to units, returning trays to clean up area, salad bar preparation, and cleaning and sanitation of all kitchen areas and equipment. Knowledge of present cleaning chemicals and their use in the proper sanitation of all kitchen equipment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Delivers snacks and trays to units, depending on daily need of each unit, and returns trays for cleanup. Replenishes serving lines and cafeterias with utensils, dinnerware, and glassware. Operates dishwasher and dish room equipment. Documents dish machine temperatures and reports discrepancies to the immediate supervisor. Assists with stocking food, paper, and cleaning supplies for the kitchen. Notifies immediate supervisor when supplies are low. Washes and sanitizes pots and pans as per department procedure. Assists with cleaning and sanitizing kitchen and cafeteria serving lines, equipment, counters, floors, and dish room. Documents on weekly list. Assists in peeling and cleaning fresh vegetables, making sure they are covered, dated, and stored properly per department policy. Assists in cleanup of special functions when necessary. Segregates and removes trash. Practices appropriate recycling procedures. Demonstrates knowledge of children's nutritional needs by serving appropriate meals and snacks. Demonstrates ability to interact appropriately with patients according to their ages. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times. Always appears neat, well groomed, and in a clean uniform with ID badge as required by department and Hospital policy. Consistently ready to begin work on time, returns from breaks promptly, and reports to supervisor before leaving department. Always provides supervisor proper notification for unscheduled absences/tardiness and requests time off according to department policy. Consistently demonstrates the proper use of body mechanics. Observes all relevant risk management and infection control policies and procedures. Practices good hand-washing technique per department procedures and uses gloves when appropriate according to department policy. Attends orientation and ongoing in-service education as required. Participates in performance improvement activities. Demonstrates competence in day-to-day interactions with patients, family members, or friends that may be present, either as patients or visitors at Butler Hospital. Child

e. speaks slowly and clearly, allows time for patient to respond). Shows respect by using patient's full name (i.e. Mr., Miss, Mrs.).
Requirements:
High school diploma and training or experience in food service preferred, but not required.
