Description:
We are seeking a dependable and professional Dietary Cook/Food Service Worker to support daily kitchen operations and ensure high-quality meal service for our residents. This role prepares regular and therapeutic diets, maintains sanitation standards, and works collaboratively with the dietary team to deliver safe, timely, and resident-centered meals.
Requirements:
Food Preparation & Therapeutic Diets Prepare all regular and special menu items according to written menus and standardized recipes. Therapeutic diets — Understand and accurately prepare physician-ordered therapeutic diets. Special requests — Prepare individualized food requests for residents while maintaining dietary guidelines. Handle and prepare food in a sanitary manner, consistently following infection control procedures. Label and date all food items before storing to ensure proper rotation and safety. Kitchen Operations & Equipment Kitchen supervision — Oversee kitchen operations in the absence of the Dietary Services Coordinator. Maintain responsibility for the care, safe operation, and proper use of food service equipment. Avoid unnecessary food waste through proper planning, portioning, and storage. Meet established meal schedules and ensure timely service for all dining periods. Sanitation & Cleaning Keep work areas clean and sanitize all surfaces after food preparation. Break down and clean assigned workstations according to the cleaning schedule. Wash pots, pans, and other wares as needed. Wash soiled dishes, load the dishwasher properly, and operate automated dishwashing equipment with solution-dispensing systems. Sort, transport, and store clean dishes according to dietary procedures. Regulatory Compliance & Safety Health department compliance — Maintain familiarity with and adhere to all state and local health department regulations, safety practices, and infection control standards. Observe and comply with all facility policies and procedures. Teamwork & Communication Work cooperatively with food service staff and other facility departments. Promptly discuss and resolve potential food service or care-coordination issues with team members and supervisors. Professionalism & Conduct Report to work in a clean, neat uniform and maintain a professional appearance at all times.
