Responsibilities Assist with food production and meal preparation in accordance with dietary guidelines and individual dietary requirements Serve meals to residents with courtesy and professionalism, ensuring proper portioning and presentation Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen areas, dining rooms, and food handling equipment following safety standards such as JCAHO regulations Support the dietary department by bussing tables, cleaning dishes, and sanitizing surfaces to uphold food safety standards Operate kitchen equipment safely, including ovens, mixers, and other food preparation tools, adhering to workplace safety protocols Handle manual tasks such as heavy lifting and safe lifting practices when transporting supplies or food items Follow all food handling procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), to ensure a safe environment for staff and residents Skills Previous assisted living or nursing home experience is highly preferred, with familiarity in working with geriatric patients Strong background in food production, preparation, and service within the food industry or culinary settings Knowledge of food safety standards, sanitation practices, and proper handling techniques (including CPR certification) Excellent time management skills to efficiently coordinate meal times and adhere to schedules Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely while maintaining a focus on workplace safety and sanitation standards Basic math skills for portion control, inventory management, and accurate record keeping Exceptional customer service skills to interact positively with residents, staff, and visitors while supporting their dietary needs This role is an essential part of our team's mission to deliver compassionate care through nutritious meals.
