The position is responsible for coordinating all phases of patient nutrition care including nutrition assessments, interventions, monitoring, education of hospitalized patients and outpatients in a variety of settings.
Team Highlights:
The Hospitality department at Kootenai Health offers a wide range of support services to various departments, staff members and patients. Our 120-member team is made up of a variety of contributors including an executive chef, sous chefs, cooks, baristas, clinical dietitians, nutrition technicians, guest relation associates, and hospitality services associates. We offer catering services within the hospital, prepare and serve patient meals through our room service program, operate a cafe and coffee service for employees and hospital guests, stock all the units with food and paper items, and provide a high level of patient nutrition support and education by our registered dietitians. As a member of this fast-paced and dynamic team, you are involved in offering the highest level of care regardless of the role you play.
Responsibilities:
Provides high quality, evidence based, efficient and patient-focused medical nutrition therapy to patients by identifying and providing age specific nutrition counseling to meet the cultural needs of the patients and their families Establishes individualized plans of care for each assigned patient, planning menus in accordance with patient dietary requirements, providing instruction for normal or therapeutic nutrition; monitors and revises care plans as needed Coordinates food service procurement for assigned patient(s), production and distribution Provides technical guidance and advises other personnel assigned to patient(s) with planning, preparing and serving food in order to achieve specific health related goal(s) Provides patient, professional and nutrition staff education, as needed Coordinates with other Clinical Dietitians to ensure continuum of care during shift changes, patient transfers, and discharges Refers more complex issues to higher-level staff and leadership as needed Performs duties in support of and in compliance with organizational initiatives, performance improvement plans, DNV and other licensing, accrediting, and regulatory agencies Performs chart reviews as needed Compliant with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within clinical nutrition Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals Maintains regular and predictable attendance Performs other related duties as assigned Completes mandatory training requirements Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned
Requirements and Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in nutrition, Dietetics or a related field required Minimum of 1 year of experience in an acute care environment or completion of a coordinated undergraduate program (CUP) with a dietetic internship of no less than 900 hours under the supervision of a Registered Dietitian required State of Idaho Licensed Dietitian (LD) and CDR Registered Dietitian (RD) required within 90 days of hire BLS required Kootenai Health approved specialty certification preferred Proficient in Microsoft Office, Meditech, and Nutrition Care Manual Member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics preferred Working Conditions
