$23.75-$27.88/hour, depending on experience Higher pay may be considered for candidates with additional relevant experience. Position Overview We are seeking a qualified and compassionate Registered Dietitian / Dietician to provide comprehensive nutritional care to both adult and pediatric patients in a state-operated hospital setting in Evansville, IN . The Dietitian will assess patients' nutritional needs, develop and monitor individualized nutrition care plans, maintain accurate clinical documentation, and collaborate with physicians, nurses, dietary staff, and other healthcare professionals to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Key Responsibilities Analyze patients' nutritional status, dietary intake, weight trends, and overall nutritional needs. Develop individualized nutrition care plans and modify interventions based on patient progress. Complete initial, annual, quarterly, and high-risk nutritional assessments in accordance with facility policies. Obtain and document diet histories, nutritional assessments, progress notes, and other required clinical documentation. Monitor patients' dietary intake and weight and make appropriate recommendations. Apply evidence-based nutrition practices and interventions using standardized Nutrition Care Manual terminology. Monitor food service operations to ensure nutritional adequacy and appropriate food safety practices. Ensure nutritional services comply with applicable CMS and The Joint Commission (TJC) requirements. Work collaboratively with physicians, nursing staff, dietary supervisors, and other members of the healthcare team. Provide nutritional care to both adult and pediatric populations . Manage multiple patient assessments and timelines while maintaining accurate and timely documentation. Communicate effectively with patients, families, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders. Exercise sound professional judgment when addressing unusual dietary or nutritional concerns. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Required Qualifications Current Indiana Dietitian license . RD or DTR certification through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) . Prior experience with the National School Lunch Program for Children . Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, and The Joint Commission regulatory requirements . Experience working with both adult and pediatric populations . Strong knowledge of nutritional assessment, care planning, dietary interventions, and clinical documentation. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience working in a hospital, residential, or psychiatric facility . Prior experience using Oracle Cerner . Experience working with high-risk patient populations. Experience managing a large and diverse patient caseload. Work Schedule Monday through Friday Full-time schedule: 37.5 hours per week 7.5-hour workdays Start times may vary between 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM End times may vary between 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM Part-time candidates may be considered with a minimum availability of 20 hours per week . Additional Requirements Selected candidates must be able to successfully complete applicable facility onboarding and screening requirements, including: Indiana/FSSA fingerprinting Drug screening Seasonal flu vaccination Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination TB testing Facility orientation AHA CPR certification, if required; training may be provided during orientation Candidates will be required to attend approximately one week of orientation before beginning regular duties. Physical & Work Environment This position is performed on-site in a state-operated hospital facility.
The role may require:
Frequent walking and standing Climbing stairs or ladders Bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling Lifting or transporting items up to 50 lbs. , with or without equipment The ability to respond quickly when immediate patient care, protection, or attention is required Maintaining strong observational and hearing skills in a healthcare environment Appropriate use of PPE when required Patient Population & Caseload The selected Dietitian may be required to provide services across multiple facilities/program areas and manage a mixed caseload of adults and children , with a maximum patient caseload of approximately 188 individuals . Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a licensed Indiana Dietitian with strong clinical nutrition experience, excellent documentation skills, knowledge of regulatory requirements, and the ability to work effectively with both adult and pediatric populations. Candidates who have experience in hospital, residential, psychiatric, or other institutional healthcare settings are strongly preferred.
Pay:
$23.00 - $27.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week Application Question(s): Do you currently hold an active Indiana Dietitian license?
