Nutrition & Wellness Coordinator Family Development Services - 2.9 Indianapolis, IN Job Details Full-time 7 hours ago Qualifications Bachelor's degree Dietetics Registered Dietitian Full Job Description The Nutrition and Wellness Coordinator assesses the nutrition needs of Head Start children, families, staff, and facilities, and develops appropriate menus to support program needs. This role also coordinates and administers the nutrition component of the program. Additionally, Oversees nutrition services for enrolled children and their families, including children with special dietary needs. Responsibilities include planning and approving menus for full-day and part-day programs serving children from six weeks to five years of age, monitoring food service quality and delivery, and managing the agency's participation in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). Key Responsibilities Plan, review, and distribute monthly cycle menus that meet USDA, CACFP, Head Start, and applicable nutrition guidelines. Oversee food production, preparation, service, storage, sanitation, and safety practices across centers to ensure quality and compliance. Coordinate the agency's participation in CACFP, including application support, monthly reimbursement claims, required staff training, and related documentation. Assess children's nutritional needs and coordinate appropriate support for children with special dietary or feeding needs. Develop and implement nutrition, wellness, and healthy lifestyle initiatives for children, families, and staff. Provide nutrition education, resources, and individual support to parents, including families of children with special food concerns or growth-related needs. Provide training and technical assistance to staff on food safety, USDA requirements, family-style meal service, nutrition practices, and special feeding needs. Monitor the nutrition budget and evaluate program quality, recommending improvements in partnership with the supervisor. Participate in the Health Services Advisory Committee and maintain effective relationships with staff, food providers, families, volunteers, and community partners. Prepare reports, support special projects, and develop community resources related to health, nutrition, exercise, and wellness. Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred in Dietetics. Must meet the educational and training requirements for membership in the American Dietetic Association, and maintain registered dietician status. One year or more experience in community nutrition, including services to children 0-6. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to work with adults and children with differing cultural and Socio-Economic backgrounds. Supervisory experience in a food service facility is a plus.
