Job Description

The Clinical Dietitian Plans, directs and provides nutritional care to acute care and rehabilitation patients as well as on an outpatient basis. Develops and implements a plan of care based on an assessment of nutritional needs and correlation with other integrated members of the Health Care Team for hosptial patients and rehabilation center patients. Counsels individual and families in nutritional principles, dietary plans, food selections and adapts plans to the individual's life style for inpatients and outpatients. Evaluates nutritional care and provides follow-up for continuity of care for hospital and rehabilitation patients. Communicates appropriate recommendations for diet history and nutritional care data through electronic medical records. Assists in planning regular and therapeutic diet menus as prescribed by the attending physician. Review therapeutic and regular diet plans and menus to assure that plans are in compliance with physicians' orders. Compiles and develops educational materials for nutrition education. Provides nutritional education to FNS and hospital staff as needed. Develops and conducts community nutrition education as needed. Maintains effective written and verbal communication with public relations, inter and intra departmentally. Is available as an educational resource to the health care team, patients and families. Participates in research activities. Evaluated and recommends new products
Education and Experience:
Bachelor degree or advanced degree in Nutritional and Dietetics. Prefer at least two years related experience as a therapeutic dietitian with counseling/education experience. Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist in the State of Louisiana Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration Education Preferred Bachelors or better in Dietetics Bachelors or better in Nutrition Science Licenses & Certifications Required Com on Dietetic Reg Clinical Dietitian Equal Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
