POSITION SUMMARY
The WIC Nutritionist provides nutrition and health assessment, education, and counseling to participants in individual and group settings. The WIC Nutritionist works collaboratively with the WIC team to develop nutrition and programmatic improvements for service delivery and participant experience. The WIC Nutritionist provides services at multiple sites, which includes some evening and weekend hours.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Provides nutrition care to high-risk pregnant/postpartum individuals, infants, and children under the supervision of the senior nutritionist, including all aspects of: Anthropometric and hematological data collection. Dietary assessment, nutritional risk assessment and food package prescription. Counseling and education. Documentation and data entry Referrals to other health and social services Follow-up nutrition education 2. Participates in planning, development, and evaluation of: Educational materials. Group nutrition education workshops. Participant counseling and education strategies. Nutrition in-services and outreach activities. Nutrition policies. 3.
Assists senior nutritionist in:
Training paraprofessional WIC staff. Conducting quality assurance activities. 4. Communicates with health care community on issues pertaining to participant needs. 5. Provides nutritional care for low-risk applicants and participants as needed. 6. Required to travel regularly throughout the service area, to CAPV office locations. 7. Comply with agency and funders? paperwork requirements and procedures. 8. Attend regularly scheduled supervision meetings, staff and department-wide meetings, mandatory agency trainings, and participate in professional development activities. 9. QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

Key Knowledge and Experience:
Knowledge of social services, advocacy, and navigating resources Knowledge of Franklin and Hampshire counties and North Quabbin regional organizations and resources Experience working with communities and individuals with low incomes Experience thinking creatively and strategically, setting program goals and steps to achieve them Experience with data management, data capture, tracking methods and analysis for outcome measurements Adapt to changing priorities and demonstrate close attention to details Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Suite and databases)
To Qualify Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills:
Bachelor\'s degree in public health nutrition, nutrition, foods and nutrition, or nutrition education required. At least 1 year of experience in clinical or community nutrition.
