Join the Leadership Team at Dwyer Home Dwyer Home, a 50-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation community located at Union Point in South Weymouth, is seeking an experienced Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) . Dwyer Home is part of William B. Rice Eventide Home, Inc., a nonprofit senior living and healthcare organization serving older adults on the South Shore. We are proud to have achieved deficiency-free Massachusetts Department of Public Health surveys for two consecutive years , and we are looking for a strong leader who can continue that standard of excellence within our Food & Nutrition Services Department. This is an excellent opportunity for an RD/RDN who wants to move beyond a traditional consulting or clinical dietitian role and have full ownership of clinical nutrition within a smaller skilled nursing environment. The Position This individual will oversee: Clinical nutrition. Food service operations. Menus. Food safety. Regulatory compliance. Resident satisfaction. Survey readiness. We are looking for a leader who is equally comfortable reviewing a resident's nutritional plan, preparing for a regulatory survey, coaching an employee, reviewing food costs, meeting with a vendor, or walking through the kitchen to ensure that our standards are being met. This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership position. Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Nutrition Provide professional clinical nutrition oversight for Dwyer Home residents. Complete nutritional assessments and documentation in accordance with applicable requirements and facility standards. Identify residents at nutritional risk and develop appropriate interventions. Participate in interdisciplinary care planning. Monitor significant weight changes, nutritional status, hydration concerns and other clinical indicators. Collaborate closely with Nursing, physicians, rehabilitation staff and other members of the interdisciplinary team. Oversee therapeutic diets, supplements and nutrition interventions. Ensure appropriate management of food allergies, preferences and dietary restrictions. Provide recommendations regarding texture-modified diets and other specialized nutritional needs. Communicate effectively with residents and families regarding nutritional concerns when appropriate. Ensure clinical nutrition documentation is timely, accurate and survey-ready. Food Service Operations Provide overall leadership and daily oversight of the Food & Nutrition Services Department. Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality meals and an excellent resident dining experience. Oversee food preparation, production, service and sanitation. Ensure meals are prepared and served according to approved menus, recipes, dietary requirements and resident preferences. Monitor meal presentation, portion size, temperature, taste and consistency. Conduct routine meal-service observations and kitchen rounds. Maintain appropriate systems for substitutions and resident meal changes. Continually identify opportunities to improve food quality and resident satisfaction. Staff Leadership Recruit, train, schedule, supervise and evaluate dietary and culinary employees. Develop an effective staffing model for the department. Manage schedules, attendance, overtime, call-outs and coverage. Establish clear expectations regarding performance, sanitation, customer service and professionalism. Provide coaching, education and corrective action when appropriate. Hold regular department meetings and employee training. Develop employees and promote accountability throughout the department. Maintain a positive, respectful and professional working environment. Regulatory Compliance & Survey Readiness Maintain the Food & Nutrition Services Department in a state of continuous survey readiness. Ensure compliance with applicable CMS, Massachusetts Department of Public Health and other regulatory requirements. Maintain appropriate food-safety and sanitation standards. Oversee food temperature, refrigeration/freezer, sanitation and other required monitoring and documentation. Ensure proper storage, labeling, dating, preparation and handling of food. Maintain appropriate infection prevention practices within the department. Conduct routine kitchen, storage and sanitation audits. Immediately investigate and correct identified deficiencies. Develop and implement plans of correction when necessary. Maintain organized records demonstrating ongoing departmental compliance. Menus & Resident Experience Develop, review and approve menus that meet residents' nutritional needs and applicable requirements. Incorporate resident preferences and feedback into menu planning. Routinely meet and interact with residents regarding dining services. Participate in resident meetings as appropriate. Monitor resident satisfaction and respond promptly to concerns. Develop seasonal menus, special meals and dining programs. Collaborate with Activities and other departments on holidays, celebrations and special events. Promote a dining program that recognizes food and mealtime as an important component of residents' quality of life. Quality Assurance & Leadership Participate in Dwyer Home's Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement activities. Track key departmental quality indicators. Identify trends and implement corrective action when appropriate. Work collaboratively with the Administrator, Director of Nursing and other department leaders. Participate as an active member of Dwyer Home's leadership team. Support facility-wide initiatives related to quality, resident experience, employee engagement and operational excellence.
Qualifications Required:
Registered Dietitian (RD) / Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential. Current Massachusetts licensure or ability to obtain and maintain all credentials required to practice in Massachusetts. Strong knowledge of clinical nutrition and food-service operations. Demonstrated knowledge of food safety and sanitation requirements. Strong leadership, organizational and communication skills. Ability to effectively supervise and develop employees. Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary healthcare environment.
Strongly Preferred:
Previous skilled nursing, long-term care, rehabilitation, senior living or healthcare experience. Previous management or Food & Nutrition Services leadership experience. Experience with CMS and Massachusetts DPH survey requirements. Experience managing food and labor budgets. ServSafe certification. Experience with therapeutic and texture-modified diets. Experience with electronic medical records and clinical nutrition documentation. Who We Are Looking For Our ideal candidate is not simply a clinical dietitian and not simply a food service manager. Schedule This is a full-time leadership position. The Director is expected to maintain a schedule appropriate to the needs of the department and should be available for periodic early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays when necessary to evaluate operations and support the team. Compensation $90,000-$110,000 annually Final compensation will be based upon relevant experience, qualifications, skilled nursing expertise and demonstrated leadership capabilities.
