MedStar Medical Group II, LLC d/b/a MedStar Medical Group has an opening for the full-time position of Dietitian based in Nottingham, MD.
Job Duties:
Monitor nutritional care, manage physician-ordered therapeutic diets, and provide nutritional education to patients. Implement protocols, patient care, and metabolic/sterile kitchen supervision and teaching. Participate in the development of nutrition projects, research, and educational programs. Assist with in-services of departmental associates regarding medical nutrition therapy, policy and procedure, and other topics as assigned by the Director. Attend health care team meetings regularly to discuss patient care needs. Consult with nursing personnel and patients concerning patients' diets. Communicate individually with physicians, nursing, and ancillary staff regarding patient care for individuals at risk. Provide both pre-operative and post-operative nutrition counseling to patients enrolled in bariatric surgery program to assist with dietary and behavioral modifications necessary to ensure success. Document relevant aspects of nutritional care for patients in the medical record. Prepare written documentation as required by the profession and the department. Educate patients on modified diets through individual discussions with the patient and family as requested by the health care team, patient and/or family. Provide high-quality medical nutrition therapy. Review medical records of patients/residents for nutritional consults and with abnormal nutritional parameters and provide appropriate recommendations.
Requirements:
Position requires a Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Dietetics, Food Science and Technology, or nutrition related field of study. Foreign degree equivalent accepted. Position requires registration with the American Dietetic Association (ADA) as a Registered Dietitian or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and a license to practice as a Dietitian/Nutritionist in The State of Maryland.
