Job Description

About the Position Performs intermediate advanced human support work assessing and educating clients of various programs on topics related to nutrition and general health, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the assigned supervisor. Job Duties Provides health education to Women, Infants and Children Supplemental Food Program (WIC) clients. Issues WIC food vouchers and breastfeeding supplies. Assesses WIC patients and develops nutrition care plans. Assesses and provides health education to relevant DHHS clients as allowable. Communicates with medical providers and their staff about health services provided. Completed required reports. Position Qualifications General knowledge of County and Department policies and procedures; general knowledge of the principles of normal and therapeutic nutrition; general knowledge of nutrition and dietary assessment techniques; thorough knowledge of health and social service programs and appropriate community resources; thorough knowledge in preparing reports and other types of correspondence; general knowledge in the use of standard office equipment and associated software (e.g. Crossroads System); general knowledge of and in the use of the equipment required for the position; ability to interpret nutritional and dietary data; ability to make arithmetic computations; ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages; ability to multi-task; ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, the general public, other professionals and associates. Education, Experience and Supplemental Information Graduation from a Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education-approved Didactic Program in Dietetics; or Dietetic Technician, Registered with the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education with a Bachelor's degree in any subject area from an accredited four-year college or university; or a Bachelor's of Science degree in Dietetics, Public Health Nutrition or Community Nutrition from an accredited four-year college or university.
