The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Student Wellness Center is seeking a part-time Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) with a strong clinical knowledge base to work in a university setting. The RD or RDN provides comprehensive, outpatient, culturally sensitive health education and nutritional care and Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT)—both in person and via telehealth from on-site—for the university's diverse population of eligible students, faculty, staff, and dependents. Operating as part of an integrated, multidisciplinary team within Student Wellness (alongside physicians, nurse practitioners, mental health counselors, and health educators), the RD/RDN addresses a broad array of nutrition health concerns. Primary focus areas include chronic disease management (e.g., diabetes, hypertension), GI disorders, food allergy consultation, eating disorders, and general wellness/lifestyle. Minimum Qualifications Licensed Registered Dietitian or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with the State of Nevada (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire). This position requires a Nutrition Sciences or closely related degree from an ACEND-accredited program and from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Minimum 1 year of experience as a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist. Excellent communications skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively. Willingness and ability to work as a team with healthcare professionals including medical providers, registered nurses, behavioral health providers, administrative personnel as well as the ability to work independently. Must be proficient with the use of electronic health records and software programs and other technologies and maintain thorough, professional documentation related to clients/patients and position duties. Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment background screening. Preferred Qualifications 2+ years of clinical outpatient experience, ideally within a college health or young adult setting. Experience providing healthcare via telehealth platforms. Demonstrated history of delivering culturally competent care to diverse populations. Job Duties/Responsibilities Performs assessment of patient/client nutritional needs. Formulates appropriate individualized plans of care with each patient/client. Provides nutritional education to the campus community and supports/participates in various Student Wellness outreach programs, within the scope of position. Works with UNLV food service vendor to ensure appropriate, nutrient dense variety of choices for various on-campus retail locations. Keeps up to date on current advances in nutrition and eating disorder treatments and is able to effectively communicate that information to clients/patients and fellow staff/team members. Stays abreast of local and regional resources for services available outside of the scope of UNLV Student Wellness. Maintains licensure and remains up to date with continuing education requirements. Complies with all facility and university policies and accreditation standards. Remains in compliance with Student Wellness Center immunization and training requirements.
