Job Summary:
Reports to the Local Agency Coordinator. Functions as a CPA (Certified Professional Authority to determine eligibility and certify eligible applicants; deny participation as appropriate. ________________________________________
Key Responsibilities:
Provides nutrition education to all WIC Participants, including nutrition assessment and subsequent education/counseling of pregnant, lactating, postpartum women, infants and children up to 5 (five) years of age. Responsible for achieving all required nutrition-related program performance outputs and objectives. Provides initial counseling to all high-risk participants. Coordinate client services and referrals with appropriate agencies. Coordinates and assures nutrition education to all participants, on an individual and/or group basis. Conducts any or all the following: diet history, anthropometrics, health questionnaire. Ensures at least two nutrition contacts are offered per certification period. Provides in-depth individual nutrition counseling as needed or requested. Provides Program nutrition information to professionals, outside agencies, organizations and individuals. Provides in-service, nutrition education, and orientation to all staff. Provides nutrition services to other Programs as assigned. Tailors' food packages to best meet the individual dietary needs of the participant. Refers participants to other sources of health care, including documentation and follow-up. Attends state WIC nutrition meetings and other conferences as needed, participates in staff meetings and attends all training sessions as assigned. Assists WIC LAC in developing program and/or staff evaluation tools and plans. In conjunction with WIC Local Agency Coordinator, trains WIC staff to clinic and WIC protocols such as 1) how to conduct high risk assessments and counseling, 2) nutrition education, nutrition services training, and in-service training programs for paraprofessional staff. Ensure patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations are followed. Participate in community events and health fairs, representing

program. Ensures compliance with MCHC policy and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook and follow WIC State Plan Policy and Procedures. Participates in periodic review of records to evaluate compliance and standard of care. Approves non-contract formula prescriptions. Writes the nutrition education section of the grant application, the nutrition services plan. Promote and support breastfeeding. ________________________________________
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in food science or nutrition, at minimum; Master's degree preferred BLS Healthcare Provider Certification Active National Provider Identifier (NPI) Current RD License with Commission of Dietetic Registration (CRD) Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage change, and improve processes Computer skills with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and EHRs ________________________________________
