Silver Star Registered Dietitian PT StarCare Specialty Health System - 3.3 Lubbock, TX Job Details Part-time $30 - $50 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Driver's License Dietetics Registered Dietitian Full Job Description StarCare Specialty Health System (StarCare) is seeking a part-time Registered Dietitian to join its outstanding Silver Star team. The Silver Star Registered Dietitian assesses the nutritional status and dietary needs of Silver Star participants and develops individualized plans to support adequate intake and promote optimal independence. The Registered Dietitian provides consultation and education to clients, families, and the interdisciplinary care team, while also overseeing food services, including congregate meal programs. This role coordinates all aspects of nutrition care—assessment, care planning, monitoring, education, and counseling—across various care settings. Additionally, the position ensures compliance with performance improvement initiatives, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) standards, and all applicable regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:
Assesses and evaluates participants' nutritional status using laboratory data and physical assessments; obtains primary care provider orders as needed to ensure adequate dietary intake and support optimal independence. Communicates comprehensive assessment findings to the interdisciplinary team (IDT) and collaborates to adjust the participant's plan of care based on identified needs. Develop individualized nutrition care plans to ensure adequate dietary intake and promote participants' highest level of independent functioning. Monitors and oversees food modifications, kitchen operations, and dining areas to ensure compliance with prescribed diets, sanitation standards, and overall meal quality for program participants. Educates participants' families and caregivers on therapeutic diets and proper meal preparation as part of the overall treatment plan, supporting the growth and effectiveness of nutrition services within the Silver Star program. Maintains professional growth and competency through participation in continuing education, current literature review, in-service training, and workshops. Prepares monthly reports on supplements, nutritional interventions, and tube feedings. Provides educational group sessions for participants. Maintain regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work hours. Ensure all required training and credentials are current and compliant with Center, federal, state, and local regulations, in addition to StarCare policies and procedures. Complete special departmental projects and other responsibilities with similar skill and work conditions as assigned. Support all activities in alignment with StarCare's mission, values, and operational goals.
Schedule:
This is a part-time, onsite position with a flexible work schedule to meet the needs of the department. A minimum of 20 hours per week is required.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nutrition or Dietetics from an ACEND-accredited program. Completion of an accredited supervised practice program (dietetic internship) through an ACEND-accredited institution. Successful completion of the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) examination. Current licensure as a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist (RD/RDN) in the state of Texas. Experience working with elderly and/or frail populations preferred. Must have a current Texas driver's license and be insurable under the Center's insurance. Must pass all pre-employment and annual screenings, including drug screen, criminal background, nursing registry, and MVR.
