Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Directs, supervises and carries out activities essential to the nutritional care of patients. Maintains accepted standards of dietetics and nutrition as recommended by the American Dietetic Association, The University Health System and department policies. Provides patient instructions, completes nutritional assessments, and makes appropriate recommendations based on clinical status or MD referral. Maintains good guest, patient and professional working relations.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in nutrition or related field is required. Graduate degree in Nutrition or related field is preferred. Must be a Registered Dietitian or registration eligible with completion and passing of the registration examination within 90 days from hire date. One to two years of related experience as a clinical dietitian is preferred. Bilingual capabilities (English/Spanish) preferred.
LICENSURE
Registration or Registration Eligible with the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Must possess a current license from the Texas State Board of Examiners of Dietitians or obtain license from the Texas State Board of Examiners of Dietitians after successfully passing the registration examinations with 120 days of hire.
