General Description of the Position The Graduate Nursing Program Director is a full-time, 12-month tenure track faculty position. The Graduate Program Director will have a broad range of administrative responsibilities for the graduate nursing online program and receive a reduction in course workload. The Director will assist with faculty recruitment, development, and supervision; curriculum development; program evaluation; budget planning and monitoring, student advising and reporting, and will serve as the key agent in directing the success of programmatic accreditation for all program options. The Director will oversee the entire MSN program including the Nurse Practioner tracks and will also have direct oversight and responsibility over the Nurse Educator and Global Leadership Program options. The Graduate Program Director reports directly to the Chairperson of the Department of Nursing. Essential Functions & Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Essential Functions Plan, develop, and administer graduate nursing courses per institutional guidelines and Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) standards.
Oversee the ACEN accreditation process. Advertise and recruit students on a continual basis (which may include travel).
Direct and coordinate the student selection process for admission to the Graduate Nursing Program.
Develop and maintain website content.
Respond to program inquiries.
Review and approve developed courses prior to start (and refresh courses as appropriate).
Recruit and select adjuncts (Content and/or Subject Matter Experts).
Evaluate/Assess adjunct usage/participation in courses.
Provide evaluative and assessment information on program faculty and staff to the department Chair and Associate Department Chair as per university guidelines and the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Mentor and orient new faculty and adjuncts.
Be available for after-hours responsibilities to students and adjuncts to address program inquiries and concerns.
Supervise the Administrative Assistant and Practicum Coordinator, and other MSN program staff. Collect and analyze data to make program changes and assess the program's ability to meet the Student Learning Outcomes and Role Specific Nursing Competencies.
Assist with Delaware Board of Nursing Reports, ACEN Reports, and University Assessment Reports under the direction of the Department Chairperson.
Handle student issues and complaints as they arise.
Teach 12 credit-hours spread throughout twelve months, consisting of assigned pedagogy, theory, and/or clinical courses in both graduate and undergraduate programs, as assigned by the Department Chair. Responsible for departmental budget planning and fiscal management, in consultation with the Chairperson.
Manage day-to-day operations of the MSN program.
Other related activities as needed and required by the Chairperson. This is an online program, so work hours will be flexible to best serve the needs of the program and the students. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The candidate demonstrates strong knowledge of program and curriculum development (previous experience preferred).
Current knowledge of new teaching technologies and be able to think creatively, with innovation in mind, to meet the current needs of the profession and graduate students.
A strong knowledge of nursing practice and accreditation prescribed by ACEN and the Delaware Board of Nursing.
The ability to work cooperatively with departmental and university faculty and staff. Qualification Standards An earned doctorate degree in nursing or a related area is required (PhD, EdD, DNP).
Must hold, or be eligible to obtain and maintain, an unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) or multistate RN license in the State of Delaware, as well as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license in Delaware with certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and or Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) across the lifespan. Eligibility for and maintenance of Delaware APRN licensure in both specialty areas are required to fulfill the responsibilities of this role. Must hold and maintain current Nurse Practitioner national certifications as an FNP and or PMHNP through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANPCB), and/or other credentialing agencies recognized by ACEN.
A minimum of seven (7) years' experience, of which a minimum of two years must be as an APRN in Family Health (across the lifespan) Clinical Nursing, PMHNP (across the lifespan) Clinical Nursing, Nursing Administration, or Nursing Education.
A strong knowledge of programming and curriculum development (previous experience preferred).

A proven track record in teaching and working with a diverse student population.
Must have significant experience working with communities of underserved populations and health improvement initiatives.
This position permits one (1) designated day per week for the Nurse Practitioner to engage in external clinical practice to maintain state licensure, national certification, and ongoing clinical competency. This arrangement must be approved in advance and coordinated to ensure that all institutional responsibilities are fully met. Approval from the Department Chairperson and Dean is contingent upon departmental needs and continued fulfillment of all assigned duties and performance expectations.
