Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Director of Nursing to lead our nursing department with passion, strategic insight, and a commitment to excellence. Responsibilities Position Summary The Director of Nursing (DON) provides clinical leadership and administrative oversight for all nursing services at Red Top Wellness Center, a Joint Commission-accredited inpatient residential behavioral health and substance use treatment facility. The DON is responsible for ensuring the safe, ethical, and high-quality delivery of nursing care in compliance with state regulations, Joint Commission standards, and SHG organizational policies. This role leads nursing staff recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance management; oversees medication management, nursing assessments, and health monitoring; and collaborates closely with the Medical Director, PMHNP, and interdisciplinary treatment team to support integrated, client-centered care in a 24/7 residential environment. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesNursing Leadership & Staff Management Provide administrative and clinical leadership for all nursing staff (RN/LPN); oversee hiring, credentialing, onboarding, scheduling, supervision, and performance management. Ensure adequate nursing coverage for all shifts in the 24/7 residential environment; develop contingency staffing plans for vacancies and emergencies. Provide mentorship, continuing education, and professional development opportunities for nursing staff. Clinical Nursing Oversight Oversee all nursing assessments, health screenings, vital sign monitoring, and detox/withdrawal monitoring as applicable to the residential population. Ensure timely, accurate, and complete nursing documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR), including MARs, nursing notes, and assessment records. Supervise and ensure the accuracy of all medication administration processes, including storage, reconciliation, audits, and error prevention protocols. Participate in pre-admission clinical assessments to evaluate medical and nursing appropriateness for residential placement. Compliance & Quality Ensure full compliance with nursing-related state regulations, Joint Commission standards, and SHG clinical policies and procedures. Develop, implement, and maintain current nursing policies, protocols, and procedure manuals. Lead nursing quality improvement initiatives; participate in facility-wide performance improvement committees. Respond to clinical incidents, medication errors, and nursing-related concerns; conduct timely investigations and implement corrective actions. Interdisciplinary Collaboration & On-Call Collaborate with the Medical Director, PMHNP, Clinical Director, and operations leadership on client care, safety planning, and complex medical presentations. Provide on-call nursing leadership support as required to ensure continuity of clinical operations and medical decision-making. Assumes Administrator On-Call (AOC) responsibilities to ensure continuity of operations, safety, and compliance during non-business hours. Performance Expectations Maintains the highest standards of nursing care, client safety, and ethical professional practice. Ensures nursing staff are trained, credentialed, supervised, and held accountable to SHG standards. Demonstrates proactive compliance oversight — nursing documentation and medication management meet or exceed audit thresholds at all times. Responds decisively to clinical incidents and medical emergencies with clear communication to the Medical Director and Executive Director.
