Woodlawn Health is seeking an experienced and dedicated director to lead our Universal Care Unit. This leadership position oversees daily operations, patient care, staffing, and employee development. The Director of Universal Care Unit will help maintain high standards of patient care while supporting staff and ensuring the department meets hospital, state, and federal requirements. About the Position The Director of Universal Care Unit oversees approximately 20 staff members in our 🛏️ 25-bed critical access hospital . The unit operates 🕰️24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This position typically works 📅 Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Additional weekend and holiday on-call coverage is required. Education and Qualifications Current Indiana RN license required and must remain active. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. BLS must be obtained within 90 days of employment if not already certified. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required. Two to three years of related experience and a bachelor's degree preferred. Master's degree preferred. Primary Responsibilities Plan and organize unit activities to ensure patients receive safe, quality care. Lead orientation and ongoing training for new, current, and cross-trained staff. Support employee development and help staff strengthen their clinical skills. Oversee the interviewing, hiring, and dismissal of employees within the department. Develop and manage annual operating and capital budgets. Direct nursing services within the Universal Care Unit. Ensure nursing services meet current state, federal, and regulatory standards . Develop and update nursing policies and procedures based on current standards of care and regulatory requirements. Provide professional nursing leadership through the assessment, planning, direction, and evaluation of patient care. Ensure appropriate daily staffing levels to support safe, high-quality patient care . Oversee the scheduling process through delegation to House Supervisors.
