Exempt Position Summary The Village at Olathe is seeking an experienced, hands-on Director of Nursing to lead our Health & Wellness team serving Assisted Living and Memory Care residents. This is more than a nursing leadership position—we are looking for someone who is passionate about building a strong team, creating a positive culture, and ensuring our residents receive exceptional care every day. Our Director of Nursing is a visible leader who is willing to jump in when needed, mentor staff, support families, and lead by example. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable in Kansas Assisted Living regulations , understands Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS) expectations, and is committed to maintaining survey readiness while fostering a culture of accountability, compassion, and excellence. Long-term care experience is required. The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for overseeing all aspects of resident care in our Assisted Living and Memory Care community, ensuring services are delivered safely, effectively, and in compliance with all applicable Kansas regulations. This role leads the care team, ensures staff compliance, monitors residents' health and individualized service plans, and upholds the community's high standards for wellness, dignity, and resident-centered care. Qualifications Current Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the State of Kansas, in good standing. Minimum of five (5) years of nursing experience in long-term care, assisted living, memory care, or a related senior living setting. Experience conducting resident assessments, developing individualized service plans, and overseeing medication management. Working knowledge of Kansas Assisted Living regulations , including resident care, staffing, medication administration, and regulatory compliance. Current CPR and First Aid certification. Ability to successfully pass criminal background screening and all other required pre-employment screenings. Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and documentation skills. Minimum of three (3) years of experience supervising nursing or direct care staff. Proficient with Microsoft Office and electronic health record/documentation systems. Key ResponsibilitiesResident Care & Clinical Oversight Conduct and coordinate resident pre-admission assessments. Develop, implement, and update individualized service plans (ISPs) based on resident needs and changes in condition. Oversee the community's medication administration program. Ensure staffing levels appropriately meet resident care needs. Maintain compliance with documentation requirements, incident reporting, and resident records. Monitor resident health, behavior, safety, and overall well-being. Serve as the primary clinical contact for residents, families, physicians, hospice providers, home health agencies, pharmacies, and other healthcare partners. Leadership & Supervision Recruit, train, supervise, coach, and evaluate nursing staff, medication aides, and resident care associates. Ensure staff maintain required competencies and certifications. Provide ongoing education and clinical guidance. Conduct routine audits of medication administration, documentation, service plans, and resident charts. Promote accountability while fostering a positive, team-oriented culture. Participate in the community's rotating on-call schedule and respond to clinical emergencies as needed. Administrative & Regulatory Responsibilities Collaborate closely with the Executive Director to ensure outstanding resident care and regulatory compliance. Maintain continuous survey readiness and prepare for KDADS inspections. Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives. Maintain infection prevention and control standards. Participate in emergency preparedness planning and drills. Work collaboratively with department leaders to ensure seamless community operations. Physical Requirements Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds occasionally. Ability to assist residents with mobility and transfers when necessary. Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and use of hands during clinical responsibilities. Must comply with all applicable Kansas health screening and vaccination requirements, including any state or federal mandates.
