Director of Nursing - Skilled Nursing & Long-Term Care 2.2 2.2 out of 5 stars 850 Riverview Avenue, Pineville, KY 40977 Full-time Pineville Community Health Center 5 reviews Full-time Pineville Community Health Center is seeking an experienced and compassionate Director of Nursing (DON) to lead nursing operations within our Skilled Nursing and Long-Term Care services. The DON is responsible for overseeing all nursing functions, ensuring regulatory compliance, maintaining high standards of resident care, supporting staff development, and promoting a culture of accountability, teamwork, and resident-centered care. Key Responsibilities Provide leadership, supervision, and clinical oversight for all nursing staff, including RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and other nursing personnel. Ensure residents receive safe, high-quality care in accordance with physician orders, care plans, and regulatory requirements. Oversee staffing, scheduling, workforce planning, and nursing performance management. Maintain survey readiness and ensure compliance with federal, state, and facility regulations. Monitor clinical quality indicators, including falls, wounds, infections, medication management, hospital readmissions, and resident outcomes. Lead quality improvement initiatives and participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) programs. Collaborate with physicians, therapy, pharmacy, social services, dietary, and other interdisciplinary team members. Support infection prevention efforts, medication safety, staff education, and clinical competency programs. Address resident and family concerns while promoting dignity, quality of life, and resident rights.
Qualifications Required:
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing. Nursing leadership experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, rehabilitation, hospital-based long-term care, or a related healthcare setting. Strong knowledge of long-term care regulations, clinical operations, staffing management, quality assurance, and survey readiness. Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Current CPR certification or ability to obtain within required timeframe.
Preferred:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Previous Director of Nursing or Assistant Director of Nursing experience. Experience with skilled nursing surveys, plans of correction, MDS collaboration, and quality measures. Experience with electronic health records and long-term care documentation systems. Rural healthcare or hospital-affiliated long-term care experience. What Success Looks Like Maintaining consistent survey readiness and regulatory compliance.
