Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurses, Nursing Assistants, Medication Technicians, and other assigned nursing personnel The Director of Nursing is expected to perform all duties in accordance with the organization's mission, values, policies, ethical standards, and commitment to providing high-quality addiction treatment and recovery services. Position Summary The Director of Nursing (DON) provides strategic and operational leadership for all nursing services within the addiction treatment program. This position is responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered nursing care to individuals receiving detoxification, residential, and/or outpatient substance use disorder treatment. The Director of Nursing oversees nursing staff, develops and implements clinical policies and procedures, ensures regulatory compliance, promotes evidence-based practices, and collaborates with the interdisciplinary treatment team to support positive patient outcomes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Clinical Leadership Provide leadership, direction, and supervision to all nursing personnel. Ensure the delivery of safe, compassionate, trauma-informed, and patient-centered care. Oversee nursing assessments, medication administration, withdrawal monitoring, medical documentation, and coordination of care. Ensure appropriate implementation of withdrawal management protocols and monitoring tools, as applicable. Participate in the development and review of individualized treatment plans. Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, therapists, counselors, case managers, and other members of the interdisciplinary team. Monitor patient acuity and staffing needs to ensure appropriate nursing coverage. Staff Management Recruit, hire, train, supervise, evaluate, and retain qualified nursing personnel. Develop staff schedules and ensure adequate coverage for all shifts and program operations. Provide orientation, ongoing education, coaching, and professional development for nursing staff. Conduct performance evaluations and address performance concerns in accordance with organizational policies. Promote teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and a positive work environment. Maintain competency requirements and required licensure and certifications for nursing personnel. Quality Assurance and Compliance Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, licensing requirements, and accreditation standards. Develop, implement, and maintain nursing policies, procedures, protocols, and standards of practice. Monitor nursing documentation for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness. Lead quality improvement initiatives related to nursing care, medication safety, infection prevention, and patient outcomes. Participate in audits, inspections, accreditation surveys, and corrective action planning. Review and respond to clinical incidents, medication errors, adverse events, and patient safety concerns. Ensure compliance with medication management and controlled-substance policies. Program Operations Participate in organizational and clinical leadership meetings. Assist in developing and managing the nursing department budget and resource needs. Monitor inventory and availability of medications, medical supplies, and equipment. Coordinate with pharmacy providers and other healthcare vendors as appropriate. Evaluate workflows and implement improvements to increase efficiency and quality of care. Participate in emergency preparedness and response planning. Patient Care and Advocacy Serve as a clinical resource for nursing staff and other treatment team members. Promote patient dignity, confidentiality, rights, and ethical standards of care. Support a recovery-oriented, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed treatment environment. Assist with complex clinical situations and provide direct patient care when necessary. Promote continuity of care and appropriate coordination with hospitals, primary care providers, and other community healthcare resources. Qualifications Required Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent combination of education and experience, as permitted by applicable regulations. Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive nursing experience. Previous supervisory or nursing leadership experience. Experience working with individuals with substance use disorders, behavioral health conditions, detoxification, or withdrawal management. Knowledge of medication-assisted treatment and evidence-based approaches to substance use disorder treatment. Strong knowledge of nursing standards, medication management, infection prevention, patient safety, and clinical documentation. Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively with an interdisciplinary team. Preferred Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or a related field. Experience as a Director of Nursing, Nurse Manager, Clinical Supervisor, or similar leadership role. Certification in addictions nursing, psychiatric-mental health nursing, or a related specialty. Experience with accreditation and regulatory standards applicable to behavioral health or addiction treatment programs. Physical and Work Requirements Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, including periods of standing, walking, and responding to patient care needs. Ability to respond appropriately to emergencies and crisis situations. May require participation in an on-call rotation and occasional work outside regular business hours.

Pay:

$95,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
