Job Description

Director of Nursing (Long-Term Care)Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Director of Nursing (DON) to lead all nursing operations within a skilled nursing and long-term care setting. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for ensuring high-quality resident care, regulatory compliance, staff development, and overall clinical excellence. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader who works closely with staff, residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams to create a positive and compassionate care environment. Key Responsibilities Oversee all nursing services to ensure safe, effective, and resident-centered care Direct resident assessments, care planning, implementation, and ongoing evaluation Monitor resident outcomes and address quality-of-care concerns Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals Supervise nursing staff including RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and nursing leaders Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and evaluate nursing team members Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive workplace culture Manage staff performance and corrective action processes when needed Ensure compliance with CMS, state, and federal regulations Lead survey readiness efforts and participate in inspections and audits Develop and maintain nursing policies and procedures Drive Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives Oversee infection prevention, safety, and risk management programs Ensure ongoing staff education, training, and competency evaluations Required Qualifications Active Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) License Associate Degree in Nursing Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Prior experience as a Director of Nursing or Assistant Director of Nursing Minimum 3-5 years of nursing experience Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills Knowledge of long-term care regulations and standards Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) Infection Preventionist Certification (or willingness to obtain within 6 months) Experience with Matrix EMR Strong RN Nurse Manager or ADON backgrounds may also be considered Benefits Competitive compensation Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance Prescription Coverage Generous Paid Time Off Retirement/Pension Plan Additional employee benefits available Apply Today!!
