Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Nursing to oversee nursing services at our new State Veterans Home located in Tradition, MS. This leadership role is vital in ensuring the delivery of high-quality long-term health care for veterans. The Director of Nursing will be responsible for managing nursing staff, coordinating patient care, and ensuring compliance with healthcare standards. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership skills, clinical expertise, and a commitment to serving our veteran community. Responsibilities Lead and manage all nursing operations within the facility, ensuring the delivery of compassionate and comprehensive long-term health care for veterans. Oversee the work, documentation, and performance of subordinate nursing personnel and specialists, providing guidance and support as needed. Coordinate patient care plans in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to meet individual health needs effectively. Direct nursing services and oversee other health services to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices. Review and evaluate nursing documentation to maintain accuracy, quality, and regulatory compliance. Develop, implement, and monitor nursing policies and procedures to promote safety, quality improvement, and operational efficiency. Serve as a liaison between staff, patients, families, and external healthcare agencies to foster effective communication. Ensure staff training and professional development are ongoing to maintain high standards of care. Maintain a safe environment for residents and staff by adhering to safety protocols and infection control guidelines. Requirements Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license with current licensure in the state of Mississippi or the ability to obtain it. Extensive experience in long-term health care settings, preferably working with veteran populations. Proven leadership skills with prior experience managing nursing teams or healthcare units. Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, compliance standards, and quality assurance processes. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and foster a collaborative work environment. Commitment to providing respectful, patient-centered care tailored to the needs of veterans.
