Job Description
RN Director of Nursing (DON) Lead with purpose. Build a strong clinical team. Make a difference every day. A skilled nursing and senior care community is seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse Director of Nursing (DON) to lead our nursing department and help ensure the highest quality of care for our residents. The ideal candidate is a strong clinical leader who can develop teams, improve outcomes, support staff, and partner effectively with facility leadership. Position Summary The Director of Nursing is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and management of nursing services. This position provides clinical leadership to ensure residents receive safe, compassionate, and quality care while maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations. Key Responsibilities Provide leadership and oversight for the nursing department Direct, supervise, and support nursing staff, including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs Ensure appropriate staffing levels and effective scheduling Monitor the quality of resident care and clinical outcomes Develop and implement nursing policies, procedures, and quality improvement initiatives Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and facility policies Participate in surveys, audits, and regulatory processes Monitor infection prevention and control practices Review clinical documentation and ensure accurate and timely completion Oversee resident assessments, care planning, and changes in condition Respond appropriately to resident and family concerns Coach, mentor, and develop nursing team members Assist with recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, and retention of nursing staff Promote accountability, teamwork, professionalism, and excellent customer service Partner with the Executive Director and interdisciplinary leadership team Monitor staffing, agency utilization, overtime, and other nursing department expenses Promote a positive work environment focused on resident-centered care Qualifications Current, active RN license in the applicable state Previous nursing leadership or management experience preferred Long-term care/skilled nursing experience strongly preferred Strong knowledge of clinical practices, regulations, and quality standards Excellent communication and leadership skills Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities Ability to coach, develop, and hold team members accountable Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment Commitment to providing exceptional resident care Why Join Our Team?
