Job Title Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) Location New Jersey Reports To President & CEO Position Summary Transform Care. Empower Clinicians. Advance Health. VNA Health Group is seeking a visionary and transformational Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) to serve as the organization's senior nursing executive and a member of the Executive Leadership Team. Reporting directly to the President & CEO, the CNO provides strategic, clinical, and operational leadership for nursing practice and patient care across home health, hospice, and community-based services. The CNO is responsible for advancing clinical excellence, workforce development, quality outcomes, and care delivery innovation. This leader will shape enterprise-wide nursing strategy, strengthen interdisciplinary care models, and leverage technology, analytics, and evidence-based practices to improve access, outcomes, and the clinician experience. Working closely with the President & CEO, Board of Directors, executive leadership team, and physician partners, the CNO serves as the voice of nursing while helping position VNA Health Group as a leader in home- and community-based healthcare and value-based care. clinicians, and communities What You Will Do Strategic & Clinical Leadership Develop and execute an enterprise-wide nursing and clinical strategy aligned with organizational goals, growth priorities, and evolving healthcare needs Partner with executive leadership to integrate quality, patient experience, workforce planning, technology, regulatory requirements, and financial stewardship into organizational decision-making Shape long-term organizational strategy, service expansion opportunities, affiliations, partnerships, and innovative care delivery models Ensure alignment between clinical operations and organizational objectives Quality, Safety & Regulatory Excellence Lead quality improvement, patient safety, infection prevention, and risk reduction initiatives across the organization Establish and maintain evidence-based nursing standards, clinical policies, and professional practice expectations Champion patient- and family-centered care, service recovery, and patient experience initiatives Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, accreditation standards, Conditions of Participation, and professional practice requirements Utilize clinical data and analytics to identify opportunities for improvement and drive measurable outcomes Workforce & Leadership Development Develop nursing leaders through mentorship, succession planning, professional development, and leadership coaching Partner with Talent Acquisition and Clinical Education to strengthen recruitment, onboarding, retention, engagement, and workforce planning strategies Advance team-based care models that enable clinicians to practice at the top of their license Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, inclusion, innovation, and continuous learning Operations, Finance & Innovation Provide oversight of staffing models, workforce deployment, productivity management, scheduling, and resource utilization Collaborate with Finance and Operations to develop clinical budgets, evaluate investments, and balance quality, access, and financial sustainability Utilize workforce, clinical, operational, and financial data to establish priorities and drive accountability Partner with Information Technology, Informatics, and Analytics teams to optimize clinical workflows and improve care delivery Champion the responsible adoption of digital health solutions, artificial intelligence, remote monitoring, automation, and emerging technologies Executive & Community Partnerships Build strategic relationships with physicians, advanced practice providers, hospitals, payers, academic institutions, community organizations, and industry stakeholders Present nursing, workforce, quality, and patient care performance to executive leadership, Board committees, and governance bodies Represent VNA Health Group in professional, community, and industry forums Serve as an ambassador for VNA Health Group and promote the organization as both a provider and employer of choice Perform other duties as assigned What You Will Need Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of New Jersey Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required Master's degree required (MSN, MHA, MBA, or related healthcare field) Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive nursing leadership experience, including executive leadership responsibility within a complex, multi-site healthcare organization Significant Home Health, Hospice, or Community-Based Healthcare leadership experience required Demonstrated success leading clinical quality, patient safety, workforce strategy, regulatory compliance, operational performance, and organizational transformation Strong knowledge of nursing practice standards, healthcare regulations, accreditation requirements, and professional practice environments Demonstrated financial acumen, including budgeting, resource allocation, productivity management, and evaluation of clinical investments Strong analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to translate data into measurable action Exceptional communication skills, executive presence, and relationship-building abilities Commitment to mission-driven healthcare, ethical leadership, professional development, and exceptional patient care Preferred Candidate Profile Visionary healthcare executive with experience leading large, multi-site clinical organizations Experience with value-based care, population health, and interdisciplinary care models Track record of developing high-performing leaders and succession plans Data-driven decision-maker with strong business and financial acumen Demonstrated ability to lead through change, complexity, and organizational growth Passion for advancing nursing excellence and community-based healthcare Working Conditions Executive office and healthcare environment with frequent interaction across multiple service lines Regular engagement with executive leadership, Board members, physicians, community partners, and external stakeholders Travel throughout VNA Health Group service areas and partner locations Participation in leadership meetings, strategic planning sessions, governance programs Public Service Loan Forgiveness Partner Compensation Transparency In compliance with New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act, the total compensation range for this position is USD $300,000 to USD $375,000. When determining an offer, VNA Health Group considers factors such as the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's work experience, education/training, relevant skills, internal pay equity, and market and organizational conditions. The total compensation range reflects the total package, including base salary, overtime, bonuses, add-on incentives, special clinical compensation, retirement plans, and all other benefits.
