Summary Designs and implements opportunities for nursing professional development, the promotion and advancement of nursing excellence and meaningful recognition of colleagues. Leads the Nursing Professional Governance Councils to develop strategic plans and actions in association with the Council's purpose. Responsible for the collection, preparation, and submission of required data for ANCC programs and/or professional organization's nursing excellence programs. Analyze nursing and practice innovations to determine appropriateness for dissemination.
Functions:
Collaborate with nursing leadership and unit teams to collect data, prepare documentation and sustain ANCC designations and/or professional organization's nursing excellence programs Coordinates and executes all aspects required to establish or maintain professional nursing certification programs Maintains and supports nursing recognition, including but not limited to the BEE, DAISY and Friends of Nursing awards programs Takes the lead to contribute to the body of nursing evidence by disseminating best nursing practice Facilitates Nursing Professional Governance councils Supports Nurse Residency programs through active seminar involvement Designs and implements opportunities for nursing professional development and advancement of nursing excellence Executes on-going development for the Nursing Professional Practice Model and participants in efforts related to key components Provides formal and informal mentoring opportunities Additional Responsibilities Actively supports the Culture of Safety by following established policies and procedures. Assists Patient Care Services personnel in meeting standards set by a variety of voluntary and regulatory agencies. Coaches staff in their preparation and delivery of formal and informal presentations. Co-chairs, with Magnet and Pathway Program Directors and organizational workgroups. Records and keeps accurate and detailed notes of all decisions associated with evidence preparation. Uses project management tools to assure timely completion of all requirements. Facilitates a work environment that fosters motivation of self and others; practices good leadership behaviors. In association with nursing leadership, leads, implements and evaluates activities associated with the Friends of Nursing Awards Program. Independently recognizes regional activities and outcomes that demonstrate evidence of ANCC Recognition Program standards; gathers and stores this evidence in a manner that is readily accessible, on an ongoing basis. Investigates, implements and promotes opportunities associated with professional board certification. Is a role model through both publication of professional manuscripts/texts and presentations at local, regional and national meetings/conferences. Is involved in research activities, which may include, but not limited to: utilizing evidence-based research findings within the practice setting; communicating research findings to colleagues and/or the professional community; attending research continuing offerings; assisting with data collections; and, serving as a participant in ongoing research studies. Is primary responsible person to complete the Demographic Data Information Tool on an annual basis and prepare clinical quality, nursing satisfaction and patient satisfaction data biennially and/or as required for ANCC programs. Maintains a working knowledge of regulatory standards and keeps abreast of changes and new regulations to address organizational functions which may be impacted. Facilitates all aspects of The DAISY Award and BEE Award programs. Education
  • Required Master's Degree Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Master's degree in nursing in a designated clinical specialty or Master's degree in a health care preferred; will consider applicant who will complete Master's degree within one year of hire. Experience
  • Required 3 years Minimum of three years recent experience in clinical practice with demonstrated leadership/teaching abilities and 1 year Experience as a team member or leader for preparing for Magnet/Pathway programs Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Required Excellent computer skills, including word processing (Microsoft Word), PowerPoint, and Excel.
Excellent writing skills. Demonstrates initiative and is able to function independently as well as collaboratively. Demonstrates the ability to initiate, accept and adapt to change.
