The DON plans, organizes, develops, and directs the overall operation of the nursing service department in accordance with current federal, state, and local regulations. Job details/Responsibilities Plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall operation of the nursing service department in accordance with current federal, state, and local regulations. Possess a strong understanding of the skilled nursing facility regulations and board of nursing practices. Develop, maintain, and update the nursing services procedures manual, and work collaboratively with many multi-disciplinary teams. Under the supervision of the Administrator, the Director of Nursing (DON) has authority, responsibility, and accountability for the functions, activities, and training of the Nursing Services staff, as well as the Therapy Department and its functions within the facility. In the absence of the Administrator, the DON assumes the responsibility for the facility. Responsibility for the overall management of resident care twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Qualifications Must possess a clear and active license to practice as a RN in the state of Texas. Previous Nursing Supervisor experience in a nursing home setting a plus. Must have a passion for patient outcomes and customer service. Must be knowledgeable of nursing, medical practices, and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long-term care. Must be organized and have the ability to communicate effectively with residents, their families, medical personnel, and facility staff in a confidential and professional manner. Come join our team!
