Position Summary The Psychiatric Director of Nursing provides strategic and operational leadership for all nursing services within the psychiatric and behavioral health program. This executive nursing leader is responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, accreditation requirements, and organizational policies. The Director of Nursing fosters a culture of clinical excellence, accountability, staff engagement, and continuous quality improvement. Essential Functions Leadership and Operations Provide overall leadership and direction for nursing services and behavioral health clinical operations. Develop and implement strategic initiatives that support organizational goals, quality outcomes, and patient satisfaction. Collaborate with executive leadership, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure effective patient care delivery. Promote a culture of safety, professionalism, accountability, and clinical excellence. Clinical Quality and Compliance Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and organizational policies. Monitor and improve clinical quality indicators, patient outcomes, risk management initiatives, and performance improvement activities. Oversee development and implementation of nursing policies, procedures, and evidence-based practices. Lead initiatives focused on patient safety, infection prevention, and regulatory readiness. Staffing and Workforce Development Direct recruitment, retention, onboarding, and professional development of nursing staff. Establish appropriate staffing plans and workforce strategies to meet patient care needs. Mentor, coach, and evaluate nursing leaders and staff to promote professional growth and accountability. Foster employee engagement, teamwork, and leadership development. Financial Management Develop and manage departmental budgets and operational resources. Monitor labor productivity, staffing utilization, and supply expenses. Identify opportunities for cost containment while maintaining quality patient care and regulatory compliance. Education and Professional Development Promote continuing education, competency validation, and leadership development programs. Ensure nursing staff maintain required certifications, licensure, and clinical competencies. Support implementation of evidence-based practices and ongoing professional growth opportunities. QualificationsRequired Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program. Minimum of five (5) years of progressive nursing leadership experience, preferably in psychiatric, behavioral health, or acute care settings. Demonstrated experience managing clinical operations, staffing, budgets, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance. Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Preferred Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field. Experience as a Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing, Nursing Administrator, or Behavioral Health Nursing Leader. Knowledge of Joint Commission, CMS, state licensing requirements, and psychiatric healthcare regulations. Physical and Work Requirements Ability to work in a healthcare environment with frequent interaction with patients, families, staff, and providers. Ability to respond to urgent operational and patient care situations. Occasional standing, walking, lifting, and travel between facilities may be required. Why Join Us?
