Job Description

An MRA member is looking for… Director of Nursing MRA is assisting one of its members with a confidential search for a Director of Nursing. This leadership position offers an opportunity to influence the quality of care, clinical excellence, and overall resident experience within a highly respected senior care organization. The Director of Nursing serves as a key clinical leader responsible for overseeing nursing services, supporting exceptional resident outcomes, and fostering a culture of person-centered care, accountability, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Clinical Leadership Provide oversight of nursing operations and the overall quality of resident care. Ensure timely and accurate assessments, care planning, clinical documentation, medication management, and infection prevention practices. Maintain clinical standards, policies, and procedures consistent with evidence-based practice and regulatory requirements. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance resident outcomes and quality measures. Support staff competency development through training, mentoring, and skill validation programs. Promote resident dignity, privacy, choice, and quality of life in all aspects of care delivery. Foster a culture that encourages professional nursing practice and continuous improvement. Team Leadership Lead, coach, and develop nursing staff and nursing leadership team members. Oversee hiring, onboarding, performance management, employee development, and succession planning. Ensure appropriate staffing levels and coverage to support quality resident care. Create a positive work environment focused on engagement, accountability, and recognition. Quality & Performance Improvement Lead quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives. Monitor clinical outcomes and identify opportunities for improvement. Oversee programs focused on infection prevention, fall reduction, and resident safety. Ensure timely investigation of incidents and implementation of corrective actions. Drive sustainable process improvements that enhance resident care and operational effectiveness. Regulatory Compliance Ensure compliance with all applicable healthcare regulations and standards. Maintain readiness for regulatory reviews and surveys. Stay informed of regulatory changes and implement updates as needed. Support successful survey outcomes through proactive planning and staff education. Operational & Strategic Leadership Participate in organizational planning, goal setting, and program development. Manage departmental resources and staffing to support operational goals. Promote efficient clinical operations and effective care delivery systems. Represent the organization professionally within industry and community settings. Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Master's degree in Nursing strongly preferred. Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Wisconsin. Minimum of five years of progressive nursing leadership experience in a skilled nursing, long-term care, rehabilitation, or senior living setting. Strong understanding of state and federal regulations impacting healthcare and long-term care operations. Demonstrated success leading clinical teams, improving quality outcomes, and managing complex healthcare operations. Excellent communication, leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Ability to support clinical operations in both leadership and direct-care capacities when needed. Willingness to participate in on-call responsibilities and occasional non-traditional work hours.
