The Assistant Director of Rehabilitation will support the Director of Rehabilitation Services in overseeing the delivery of high-quality rehabilitation services, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and promoting a collaborative and patient-centered care environment. Assists the Director of Rehabilitation with coordinating and supervising the operations of the department, assists with administering physical agents prescribed by a referring physician. Helps maintain performance improvement activities within the department and participates in CQI activities. Assists in formulating budget, evaluates department performance versus budget and takes appropriate action to remain in budget guidelines. Maintains efficient and effective department operation while requiring compliance with all state, federal and local regulatory laws, standards and protocols. The Assistant Director of Rehabilitation (ADOR) will treat each resident with kindness, dignity and respect. They will knock before entering each resident's room. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the Director of Rehabilitation Services in managing the daily operations of the rehabilitation department. Supervise and mentor rehabilitation staff, including physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and therapy assistants. Ensure the development and implementation of individualized treatment plans for residents. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of rehabilitation programs and make necessary adjustments. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of residents' progress and treatment outcomes. Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards and facility policies. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to residents. Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and continuing education opportunities. Assist in the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures. Promote a positive and supportive work environment. Assists in the responsibility of the direction of the Rehabilitation Services Department staff. Supports and empowers staff to embrace the mission and value statements of the organization. Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly. Maintains department cleanliness and safety. Complies with ongoing departmental inspections of equipment and physical space, makes recommendations regarding equipment utilization and needs. Communicates appropriately and clearly to physicians, staff and administrative team. Maintains records pertinent to personnel and operation of the department. Prepares reports regarding rehabilitation services, i.e., utilization, performance improvement, service data, outcome data, and productivity. Provides or ensures education to staff on performance improvement. Ability to plan and organize orientation and in-service training for department staff members, participates in guidance and educational programs. REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's or master's degree in physical therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology, or a related field. Current state licensure or certification in the respective discipline. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a skilled nursing facility or similar healthcare setting. Previous supervisory or management experience preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Compassionate and patient-focused approach to care. Working Conditions May encounter frequent interruptions. May be involved with residents, family and government agencies. May be requested to work beyond scheduled working hours at times. Is subject to callback during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, postdisaster, etc.) May be subjected to odors, dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoking or air contaminants. May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses. May be exposed to or handle hazardous chemicals. Physical Requirements Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day. Working throughout the nursing areas Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds, lifting more weight up to 100 pounds requires assistance.
