• Tech, Chico, California Key Responsibilities
• Prepare patients for electrocardiogram (EKG/ECG) procedures by explaining the process and ensuring comfort.
• Attach electrodes accurately to the patients chest, arms, and legs according to standard protocols.
• Operate EKG machines to record and monitor the hearts electrical activity.
• Perform resting EKGs, stress tests, and Holter monitor setup as required.
• Identify and document basic heart rhythm abnormalities such as arrhythmias.
• Ensure proper calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of EKG equipment.
• Review test recordings for quality and accuracy before submission to physicians.
• Maintain accurate patient records and test documentation in medical systems.
• Follow infection control, safety, and patient privacy (HIPAA) guidelines.
• Assist physicians and nursing staff with cardiac diagnostic procedures. Certifications/Requirements
• Completion of an approved EKG Technician training program covering cardiac procedures and medical terminology.
• Strong understanding of heart anatomy, electrical conduction, and common cardiac rhythms.
• Hands-on clinical practice or externship experience.
• Certified EKG Technician (CET) certification through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA).
• National Certified EKG Technician (NCET) certification through the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification. Compensation and Benefits
