An EKG Technician assists with specialized tests using an electrocardiogram machine, to monitor the performance of a patient's heart. Works under the direction of a physician or specialist. Explains test procedures to patients, sets up and runs equipment and monitors readings. Provides reports and readings from the test to a physician for analysis.
Incumbent provides expertise required for electroencephalograph testing (EEG), Video/EEG monitoring and patient observation, long term video EEG monitoring (LTM), evoked potential (EVP) testing, brainmap testing, Corticography (ECOG), and surgical monitoring. Incumbent also will review and clip continuance monitoring, provides telemetry testing and other specialized procedures in both inpatient and outpatient settings, including nursing floors, intensive care units and other specialized locations. Preferred Qualifications:
R.PSG.T or NBRC certification as a Polysomnography Experience performing all phases of neurodiagnostic testing Experience with or willingness to learn interoperative nerve monitoring (IONM) Experience with interoperative nerve monitoring (IONM) Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
