Sr. EEG Technologist University of California - San Francisco 56.53 to 70.79 United States, California, San Francisco 505 Parnassus Avenue (Show on map) Aug 10, 2026 The Senior EEG Technologist, under the direction of Supervisor and medical director will participate as an integral member of the Neurology Department by performing mainly Electromyograms, evoked potentials (EPs) and other specialized procedures in both adult and pediatric inpatient and outpatient settings, including nursing floors, intensive care units and other specialized locations. The Senior EEG Technologist will ensure electrode and equipment integrity. The Senior EEG Technologist actively participates in departmental and organizational programs, including performance improvement activities, in-services and staff development activities.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

The functions should add up to 100%. % of time Essential Function (Yes/No) Key Responsibilities (To be completed by Supervisor) 50 Yes Independently perform nerve conduction test(s) (NCS). 5 Yes Prepare medical equipment for NCS and appropriate parameters for providers to perform EMG. 5 Yes Prepare and populate appropriate EMG data table. 5 Yes Trouble shoot EMG medical equipment and collaborate with biomed, vendor, or appropriate department in repair and maintenance of medical equipment 5 Yes Monitor supply and order necessary medical supplies as related to the EMG lab. 5 Yes Prepares and explains the NCS test procedure to the patient to obtain the patient's cooperation necessary for a complete examination. Checks the patient's electronic medical record for orders and special needs, with particular attention to patients with pacemakers, defibrillators, and neurotransmitters. 5 Yes Builds on basic knowledge of the peripheral nervous system, diseases related to electrophysiological medicine, instrumentation, basic electronics, and electrical safety. 5 Yes Prepares the patient, applying a variety of surface electrodes as required; accurately obtains common NCSs; distinguishes between normal and abnormal results; describes all abnormal clinical manifestations observed during the test; and recognizes physiological and nonphysiological artifacts and takes appropriate steps to eliminate them. 5 Yes Assists the EDX physician with the EDX studies as needed by preparing or manipulating the instrument and applying surface recording electrodes. 5 Yes Keeps equipment clean and in operating condition, detects instrument malfunctions, and makes minor maintenance adjustments or reports the need for major repairs. • At least two years of experience as an EEG Technologist.
• At least two years' experience in an acute care hospital setting.
• Knowledge and understanding of basic medical terminology.
• Experience with computerized medical equipment.
• Possession of a high school diploma.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
• Proficient in computer skills including Word, Excel, and on line communication.
• Possession of good interpersonal, time management, problem solving and self-initiation skills.
• Graduate from an accredited training program in Electroneurodiagnostics or a combination of training and experience.
• Ability to work variable shifts and days.
• Demonstrates ability to be an independent, motivated self-starter

PREFERRED

• Successful completion of accredited neurodiagnostic program.
• Completion of at least 12 months of fulltime (or equivalent) practical training performing NCSs under the
• direct supervision of an EDX physician.
• Prior experience working in an academic medical center environment.
• Possession of current CPR certification.
