Health Unit Coordinator/EKG Monitoring TechnicianSCHEDULE
2026-2027 SCHOOLYEAR BASIC FUNCTION
The EKG Instructor will have hands-on experience in electrocardiography and a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring students pursuing careers in healthcare. This role involves delivering engaging instruction, assessing student performance, and preparing learners for certification and clinical practice.Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging instruction on EKG monitoring techniques and health unit coordination.
- Teach students to recognize normal and abnormal electrical cardiac activity and interpret 12-lead EKGs.
- Guide students through the cardiovascular system, telemetry equipment usage, and heart rate analysis.
- Instruct on medical law, terminology, anatomy and physiology, and hospital administrative procedures.
- Train students in data entry, transcription of physician orders, diagnostic test coordination, and patient confidentiality.
- Introduce students to medical electronic record-keeping systems and quality assurance practices.
- Facilitate early clinical exposure and ensure integration of classroom theory with hands-on experience.
- Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance.
- Foster a supportive, inclusive, and professional learning environment.
Qualifications:
- Certified EKG Technician (CET) or equivalent credential required.
- Minimum of [2+] years of clinical experience in EKG or cardiac care.
- Prior teaching or training experience preferred.
- Knowledge of medical law, terminology, and healthcare ethics.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to diverse learning styles.
- Proficiency with instructional technology and electronic health records (EHR) systems is a plus.
