Electrocardiogram (ECG) technicians use special equipment and medical techniques to record the electrical impulses transmitted by a patient's heart.
Job Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma. Minimum of two years in a cardiology practice preferred Professional certificates preferred
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides patient care as an EKG Technician to patients in assigned facility Communicates report to appropriate healthcare workers in accordance with the hospital policy Adapts and adheres to all facility policies and procedures Uses an electrocardiogram machine to record the activity transmitted by the patient's heart. Hooking the patient up to the EKG machine with electrodes and making sure the machine properly records the heart's performance Gather information from the patient as to their medical history as well as explain the different procedures and results to the patients Maintaining the EKG equipment and supply levels will also be required.
Knowledge of:
Anatomy and physiology Computer programs, spread sheets and applications Ultrasound equipment and use Medical terminology, office procedures.
Skilled in:
Exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion and decision making Analyzing situations accurately and seeking appropriate advice/help Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, policy-making bodies, third party payers, patients and the public. Organizing work, achieving goals and objectives.
Ability to:
Process patient and public inquiries and respond with poise and efficiency Recognize, evaluate, solve problems and correct errors Establish and maintain quality control standards. Conceptualize work flow, develop plans, and implement appropriate actions Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information Other duties as assigned.
