An EKG Technician assists with specialized tests using an electrocardiogram machine, to monitor the performance of a patient's heart. Works under the direction of a physician or specialist. Explains test procedures to patients, sets up and runs equipment and monitors readings. Provides reports and readings from the test to a physician for analysis.

Job Description

Sign on bonus available: Two years' experience + certification = $20,000 Less than two years' experience + certification, evening shift = $15,000 Less than two years' experience + certification, day shift = $10,000 Non-certification = $5,000 Sign-on bonus eligible for external candidates only. To carry out intraoperative monitoring of EEG during surgical procedures assisting the surgeon in prevention of neurological deficits. To perform routine procedures in the Clinic or hospital EEG laboratories when not in the operating room. Graduate of an accredited institution for neurodiagnostic technology or 2 years equivalent neurodiagnostic tech experience. Associate's degree preferred.
Additional Qualifications :
Experience in routine diagnostic testing is preferred. Computer skills required. Ability to work independently and shows proficiency in troubleshooting.
License/Certifications:
Within two years of employment, specific certification through ABRET - Neurodiagnostic Credentialing and Accreditation (R.
EEG T., R. EP
T., CNIM, CLTM and CAP); American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine (ABEM; CNCT) and/or American Association of Electrodiagnostic Technologists (AAET; R.NCS.T.) is required in the laboratory of hire. Must have current certification in Basic Life Support. Those hired into this job description prior to year 2013 will not be impacted by the lab specific certification requirement. The Certification Examination in Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring is strongly encouraged.
