An EKG Technician assists with specialized tests using an electrocardiogram machine, to monitor the performance of a patient's heart. Works under the direction of a physician or specialist. Explains test procedures to patients, sets up and runs equipment and monitors readings. Provides reports and readings from the test to a physician for analysis.

Job Description

POSITION INFORMATION
Position summary: The CVT performs EKGs, Holter monitor hook-ups, event recorder hook-ups and stress testing in various settings, including inpatient, outpatient, and Nuclear Medicine. EEG experience is preferred. The CVT also supports the operations of the CVS Department, including processing EKGs, scanning Holter results, retrieving/distributing test results, and scheduling patients.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High school diploma. Required length and type of experience: 1 year experience in a clinical setting with stress testing included in responsibilities. Required licensure, certification or registry: EEG experience is preferred.
