Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist (EEG Tech)- Neuroscience- 1.0 FTE- Days

Job Description

What You Will Do:
The Electroneurodiagnostic Technician performs and maintains competency in electroencephalograms, both portable inpatient EEG's, (both at Waukesha ProHealth Care and Oconomowoc ProHealth Care Hospitals) and outpatient EEG's in the Neuroscience Center Clinic, by applying electrodes on predetermined positions on the patient's head, checking the performance of the electrodes, calibrating and adjusting the testing equipment and selecting both predetermined and special electrode combinations dependent on the individual case under study.
Other Responsibilities Include:
Experience performing EEGs. Prepares patient for exam and performs exams and procedures. Gathers a comprehensive patient history, appropriate information from patient, patient's records and family members to include neurological symptomatology and medications. Explains test procedures to patient and family members. Performs procedures according to the laboratory standards and implements alternative methods and/or adjusts controls to obtain optimal recordings. This may include appropriate control setting changes on the equipment, use of extra electrodes, extra montages and use of activation procedures. Recognizes patient or environmental artifact. Documents, eliminates or takes proper measure to monitor the artifact. Troubleshoots equipment problems and repairs or reports to supervisor immediately. Ability to learn EPIC charting system. Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique.
What You Will Need:
High school Diploma, or equivalent Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association, or ability to obtain upon hire Registered Polysomnography Technologist or Registered Electrodiagnostic Technician within one year of hire Specialist expertise in neurodiagnostics preferred though not required
