ROLE SUMMARY
Provides stand by emergency medical care and transportation at special event venues. Responds to emergency scenes to provide emergency medical care and transportation. Responds to hospitals, nursing homes and other locations to provide nonemergency medical care and transportation. Provides medical care and monitoring at the scene, en route to the hospital and during transportation to, from and/or between facilities. Provides appropriate medical care and monitoring per local medical protocol and state law, adhering to company, local, regional, and state guidelines regarding patient care and delivers the patient to the appropriate medical facility Performs other duties related to emergency and non-emergency medical care and transportation as directed. This is a Non-Exempt/Hourly position.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Specific Duties:
Demonstrates complete knowledge, understanding and compliance of company policies and procedures. Ensures that ambulance and all equipment is ready for use at the beginning of each shift and after every call.
This includes:
appropriate cleaning and disinfecting of the interior and exterior of the vehicle; appropriate cleaning and disinfecting of equipment; inspecting; restocking, and completing daily checklists of the vehicle and equipment; and performing some routine maintenance. Ensures security of buildings, vehicles, equipment, medications and all other company property. Performs daily inspections of their base and/or station for cleanliness. Then performs the appropriate housekeeping duties to ensure their living quarters are clean, free from clutter and sanitary at all times. Maintains appropriate communications with company dispatch, medical control and other agencies via radio, data link, pager or cell phone as required. Be knowledgeable as to local geography to include location of hospitals, public venues as well as local streets and highway systems. Responds to emergencies and non-emergencies using appropriate care and caution in accordance with state law, EMS regulations, company policy, and the principles of safe emergency vehicle operation. Renders emergency and non-emergency medical care and transportation in accordance with local medical protocol and state law, adhering to company, local, regional, and state guidelines regarding patient care consistent with good judgment and the provision of high quality medical care. Appropriately and safely delivers the patient to the appropriate medical facility. Acts at all times in the best interests of high quality patient care, in the best interest of the patient, and in such a manner to reflect credibly on the company and the professional reputation of the EMT. Acts at all times with his/her personal safety in mind, as well as the safety of his/her partner, the patient, other EMS personnel, bystanders, and any other public safety personnel present. Accompanies patients to their destination, continuing to provide appropriate care and patient advocacy until the responsibility for the patient has been transferred to an appropriate medical professional and a report has been given. Completes and signs all appropriate documentation for every response and transport. Obtains complete medical histories and billing information for all patients treated and/or transported. Maintains security and privacy of all company and patient information at all times in accordance HIPPA and all other local, state and federal regulations. Adheres to Universal Precautions/Body Substance Isolation when dealing with patient contacts. Is familiar with and practices the Infection Control policies and procedures of company. When necessary and appropriate, acts as a team leader in dealing with emergency and non-emergency situations, directing and supervising other members of the emergency medical care team. Performs duties related to public relations and community education programs sponsored by company. Accepts responsibility for recertification as an EMT and for other required license's and certifications as required by company, local, regional, and state policies, regulations or laws. Reports to assigned shifts on time, properly groomed in uniform and on time unless the proper notification has been made. Remains on-duty and in proper uniform until properly relieved. At all times sets an example of professionalism and leadership for others to follow. Places patient care excellence and safety above all else. Performs other duties as directed by management.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Requirements Must possess a high degree of personal integrity and responsibility. Currently licensed, certified or registered by the appropriate state agencies. Currently licensed with the appropriate level of state motor vehicle operator's license. Currently has a clean driving record as approved by company vehicle liability insurer. Must have the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision, using good judgment. Must have the ability to work efficiently and interact in a constructive and professional manner with other employees, public safety personnel and medical staff. Must have the ability to interact effectively and professionally with patients, customers, clients, family members, bystanders, and the general public in such a manner as to reflect positively on the company. Must demonstrate a level of skill and ability consistent with the provision of high quality patient care. Must have the ability to perform effectively as team leader and team member in patient care situations. Must have the ability to perform effectively in carrying out public relations and community education functions with members of the medical community and general public in promoting company. Qualifications and Education Requirements California State Paramedic License Currently certified in
CPR/BCLS
by the AHA or other appropriate organization.

preferred (company will provide education by 10/1/2025 for un-certified)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. The ability to reach, push and pull. The ability to sit or stand for long periods of time. The ability to bend, stoop, squat and kneel for long periods of time. The ability to walk up and down stairs without difficulty. The ability to lift and maneuver 150 pounds without difficulty. The ability to lift and maneuver 150 pounds up and down two flights of stairs without difficulty. The ability to walk a distance of one quarter of a mile without difficulty. The ability to complete all job duties during any and all hours of the day and night.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
This position reports directly to the Field Supervisor or Operations Manager for all operational activities, and the Medical Director for medical control on all patient care, protocol and clinical quality activities.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & TRAVEL
Travel Requirements Continuous local travel throughout the assigned service area is required. Work Environment This role operates in mobile healthcare and emergency response environments with exposure to infectious diseases, hazardous conditions, physically demanding activities, and high-stress emergency situations.
